Red beet powder (for red velvet cup/cake)! Whole Foods should carry it. Provides some natural sweetness, too.
Ooh! Thanks for the suggestion! I wondered if someone had come up with a way to use beets for their coloring.
I checked the WF's nearest me and no dice. They did carry natural food coloring which costs $18 for three vials of dye!!! The hunt continues...
