guilty pleasures

I just realised that Aparment Therapy has a foodie blog called The Kitchen. Sheesh! Where the hell have I been? In going through their archives (did I mention that I am obsessive compulsive?) I saw a post asking readers to talk about food they consume as a guilty pleasure. Most folks seemed to binge on white-trash fave’s and insta-processed-foods. I came up with a list of my own and I am beginning to think that I am a little too health neurotic conscious. I dunno. I used to love eating package ramen and 7-layer burritos from Taco Bell, but the thought of consuming something so processed and sodium laden feels totally unappetizing. These days a guilty pleasure is anything with a high fat or sodium content. I asked m about it last night and he reminded me of my penchance for eating ice cream straight out of the container. And I have been known to eat a whole tray of baklava in one sitting. That’s pretty gross, right? Here are mine:
  • pizza. Specifically: white pizza from Paizano’s in Hermoza Beach (garlic-y, spinach-y goodness)
  • marshmallow’s toasted over my gas range with bamboo chopsticks
  • baby Back Ribs
  • potstickers
  • korean Spicy/Kimchee (instant) Ramen (oy the sodium content!)
  • a mug of Ghiradelli’s dark chocolate melted with a little milk poured in to make it drinkable
  • root beer
  • beef (we hardly ever eat it at home for fear of our cholesterols)
  • any form of lamb (so expensive, so bad for our arteries)
  • osso Bucco
  • risotto (with extra grated parmesan heaped on top)
  • arancini
  • prosciutto wrapped figs stuffed with goat cheese and then grilled under the broiler
  • potato chips (the kettle fried ones that are SUPER crispy)
  • foie gras
  • sour cream
  • fried cheese
  • mac and cheese
  • cheese of any kind
  • (french) onion soup
  • french fries
  • corn dogs
  • roasted garlic with baked brie
  • mexican food (where are the vegetables in this meal?)
  • German balogna (is that bad for you? I love it with a guilty pleasure so I assumed that it was)

What are your guilty pleasures?
