Love the typography on both and that cut-out snippet. Too clever! I do have to agree with BDR's comment that the tentacles look more like they belong to an octopus than a squid's. Nice composition too of the Proust/Squid.
I never tire of Russian Constructivist inspired design nor the use of black/white/red. I admire the way designers can create a grid-like design without it looking too predictable (as in the cover for Darkness at Noon). It's got this great mathematical quality to it.

This could be a Saul Bass design of opening credits for a Hitchcock flick. What's not to love?
Nice vintage inspired design. I particularly enjoy the color design of the strawberry one and the primitive lines of the wood-block look illustration of all three.

I enjoy the illustration of this one. Using silhouettes with a black/creme contrast is a nice choice.
Nice art direction/photo styling. Like the type choices for the title as well as the inset.
